Ancestors

I say!

Below is a snap of an ancestor of mine - Alexander 'The Great' Milngavie. By the looks of the photo I would say it was taken in or about 1915. Fighting stock, us Milngavies, and always ready for a battle - any battle. The second snap is an old postcard of Culloden Moor, where the battle which ended the traditional Scottish highland way of life took place in 1746. Us Milngavie's fought on both sides in that battle, just to make sure that a Milngavie came out a winner.

Season's greetings

I say!

A few thunderstorms hereabouts, but that's good for the gardens.

Mrs M and myself would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas. The following snap shows some nativity carvings by Ishmail, a local carver. Baby Jesus is in a crib, surrounded by wise men offering gifts, and some animals from the stable. The quality of Ishmail's work is excellent, and not only that, but he himself looks rather like a carving - fine smooth features.

Around Zomba

I say!

I have been rather amiss recently and have not posted many snaps from hereabouts. Here are some taken not too far from Kalimbuka.

The first shows The Great Hall, a magnificent construction and venue for many an enjoyful evening's entertainment.

The second show one of the buildings at Chancellor College.

The next one was taken just down the road from Chancellor College.

And the final snap is of the Anglican Cottage in Malindi, over near the Mocambique border. I can fully recommend it to any visitors. The cook there deserves a medal for what he can do with some mati matis, a couple of onions, and some goat offal.
